Welcome To Barry Smiler's website

'Three' by Cathy Karklyn

Hello, I'm Barry Smiler. Welcome to my website.

··· --- ···

This website is about facts, particularly facts about climate change. Because nothing is more important. As Mark Sumner notes, the climate crisis underlies everything.

Here's the thing. You're living your life on a train. All your issues - they're on that train ... That train is headed for a very, very hard wall. Very, very fast.

How bad could it get?

[T]he kind of bad we're talking about is the kind where millions of people on the move, political instability, and economic disaster are the good outcome.

That's why nothing is more important than the climate situation, which at this point seems to be deteriorating rapidly. We are running out of time.

··· --- ···

I've been following the scientific literature regarding climate change for a long time, and saved articles and studies I found especially interesting, which became the core of my climate articles list when I turned my personal site into this climate site.

I've always liked history and facts in general. Facts provide context. With context, data can become knowledge. Without it, all you have is noise. Your suggestions and comments are welcome.

If you like, there is more context about me on the About page.

The painting to the left is called "Three" and is by my wife Cathy Karklyn. You can see more of her work here.
